Inauguration of 2 numbers of Mobile Blood Collection Vans by Hon’ble Minister, Parliamentary Affairs and Health & Family Welfare Department, Odisha

Bhubaneswar,4/3/2024 ( Odisha Samachar/ Rajat Mohapatra)-  As a part of life saving measure and in order to increase voluntary blood collection in remote areas Blood Collection Vans are being supplied to different Medical Colleges and District Headquarter Hospitals.

            In November 2019, 09 nos. of Mobile Blood Collection Vans were supplied and are stationed at the Blood Banks of SCB MC&H- Cuttack, MKCG MC&H- Berhampur, VIMSAR-Burla, DHH-Bolangir, SLNMC&H-Koraput, DHH-Baripada, DHH- Balasore, DHH-Bargarh and RGH-Rourkela. Subsequently, 05 numbers of Mobile Blood Donation Vans were supplied in March, 2023 and have been stationed at the Blood Banks of DHH-Angul (01 No.), DHH-Jharsuguda (01 No.), DHH-Kandhamal (01 No.) and DHH-Keonjhar (02 Nos.). This has resulted in an exponential increase of the total voluntary blood collection since 2020.

In order to further carry forward this trend, additional 02 numbers of fully fabricated Mobile Blood Collection Vans (which include Collection Equipment such as Donor Couch, Blood Storage Refrigerator, Blood Collection Monitor, Blood Bag Sealer and Ancillaries such as generator, inverter etc.) have been procured by the Odisha State Medical CorporationLimited @ Rs 54,71,700 per van leading to total cost of Rs 1,09,43,400 (Inclusive of Blood Collection Equipment & ancillaries, vehicle registration, insurance, 03 yrs comprehensive warranty & GST). This will definitely help common citizen for their requirement of blood.
