State Level Census Coordination Committee (SLCCC) Meeting held

DC-cum-ACS Shri Singh highlights Census 2027 as a pivotal national programme, seeking wholehearted cooperation

Bhubaneswar, 7/1/2026 ( Odisha Samachar/ Rajat Mohapatra )-The State Level Census Coordination Committee (SLCCC) Meeting has been held today under the Chairmanship of the Shri Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner-cum- Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha at the Conference hall of LoksevaBhawan, Bhubaneswar.

At the outset Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan,IAS, Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Odisha welcomed the dignitaries and participant members.

In the meeting held, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Principal Secretary, PR&DW Deptt, Additional Secretary, R & DM Department, Special Secretary, Forest & Environment Department,the Special Secretary, Rural Development Department and the Additional Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, Secretary, State Election Commission, Odisha; Representative of Chief Conservator Forestwere actively participated in the meetingalong with the other senior officers of different departments of Govt. of Odisha.

All Collectors – Cum -Principal Census Officers and Municipal CommissionersCum -Principal Census Officers of the State joined the meeting Virtually through Video Conference along with their Census Functionaries.

In connection with the ensuring Census 2027, the agenda wise discussion were held vividly for successful conduct of the ensuing HouseListing Operations (HLO) 2026 and Population Enumeration (PE)scheduled to be conducted during in April-May, 2026 and February-March 2027 respectively along with ongoing activities of census 2027.

            Discussions were held on the freezing of administrative boundaries, the Phase-I schedule of Census-2027 in Odisha, deployment of Enumerators and Supervisors, and the possible overlap of the Census schedule with SIR.The meeting also deliberated in detail on financial norms for Census-2027, selection of Master Trainers and Field Trainers, finalisation of forest villages, Urban Agglomerations and slums, finalisation of special charges, and notification of Industrial Towns.The Director of Census Operations, Odisha, discussed the modalities and modes of operation of ensuing Census in details.

The Development Commissioner highlighted the administrative role and responsibilities of the Collectors-cum-Principal Census officers and he requested all to extend cooperation for the ensuing Census 2027 to bring this pivotal Govt. programme as fruitfulin a long way.
