In our country, someone requires blood every 2 seconds and one donation from you could potentially save 3 lives. The first and foremost advantage of donating blood is, no doubt, the exhilarating feeling of having saved someone’s life. Donating blood has noteworthy health benefits for the donor as well as the patient. 
It reduces cholesterol, helps regulate the level of iron and sheds extra calories in the donor’s body. Regular blood donation can be beneficial for the circulatory system and can reduce the risk of heart diseases. 
More and more people should come forward to donate blood and blood donation camps should be organised to help accumulate valuable and rare blood groups. Hence, everyone should come forward to donate blood and save valuable lives, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister Shri Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia gave a clarion call today inaugurating the blood donation camp organised at the Conference Hall of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Dept., Kharavela Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Shri Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment & Climate Change dept. expressed that we all know the need and importance of blood in the life of an individual. Our blood can save a life. It can give morale, force and gratitude in the heart of a patient. It does not matter who is the blood donor or receiver, a donor can be a receiver in the future. So, donating blood without any expectation is a great humanitarian act which plays a vital role in the life saving process. So the practice of regular blood donation should be followed with all other support and co-operation from all walks of life. ACS Sri Sahu lauded the role played by members of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Dept. Cultural Association in organising this blood donation camp.
Forest, Environment & Climate Change Dept. Cultural Association has been organising blood donation camps. Additional secretary Shri Deben Kumar Pradhan and Senior scientist Sri Anand Chandra Sasmal of the dept. first donated blood at the beginning and were a source of inspiration for all other donors. Today, more than 70 units of blood from members as well as others are being collected. Blood Bank of Capital Hospital has played a vital role in collecting blood from Blood Donors. Department additional Secretary Sri Dharam Hansdah along with cultural association General Secretary Sri Bibhudatta Prasad Samantaray, Joint Secretary Mrs. Sneha Das, Arabinda Parida, Birashri Nrupendra Kumar Dash, Prashant Nanda, Adyasha Rout and all officers and staff of Forest, Environment & Climate Change dept. were present at the camp and made the blood donation programme a grand success.
