Cuttack, 29/04/2026 ( Odisha Samachar )- In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of one former JE of Balisankara Block, Dist-Sundargarh, in a corruption case.
Today i.e. 29.04.2026, Sri Anup Kumar Das, Former Junior Engineer, Balisankara Block, Dist-Sundargarh (Retired), who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act,1988/409/477-A/34 IPC, for misappropriating Govt. fund by showing excess work towards excavation of pond under Employment Assurance Scheme( EAS), and forging the signatures/LTI’s of the labourers on the muster rolls, was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Anup Kumar Das, Former Junior Engineer, Balisankara Block, Dist-Sundargarh (Retired) following his conviction.
Sri Trinath Patel, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance, SambalpurDivision had investigated the case and Sri ShyamSundar Mishra, Sri UditBatusharma, Spl. PPs and Sri Sandeep Panda, APP, Vigilance, Sundargarhjointly conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
