Tribal students imparted training on Freshwater Aquaculture at ICAR-CIFA

Bhubaneswar,26/12/2024 ( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR-CIFA organized a three-days training program on freshwater aquaculture for tribal students, at its headquarters during 17th -19th December2024 under SCSP project. A total of 50UG and PG zoology students of KISS, Bhubaneswar participated in the training program and gained valuable insights on various aspects of freshwater aquaculture.

The participants were introduced to the on-going research activities of the Institute and were informed about ICAR-CIFA’s significant contributions to the advancement of scientific aquaculture. It is claimed that the trainees belong to the most vulnerable and marginalised sections of the society   and arethe first liner zoology students and continuing their graduation and post-graduation in zoology from their community in KISS, Bhubaneswar.

The students were imparted training on scientific and advanced aquaculture practices,soil and water quality management, fish health management, fish genetics and biotechnology and fish nutrition.  The trainees were awarded certificates after completion of the training in the valedictory function which was attended by Dr. H. K. De, the Course Director and the coordinator of SCSP Project, Dr. G.M.Siddhaiah,  Course Coordinator and Dr. M. Satapathy of KISS. The training programme was coordinated by Mr. D. P. Rath and Mr. S. K. Mohanty, ACTO.
