Bhubaneswar,30/07/2024 (Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra)- Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Water Resources Smt. Anu Garg, IAS made a detailed review on flood management with the senior engineers of the department on Monday i.e dt.29.07.2024.
Smt Garg took a stock of the present flood scenario consequent of release of flood water from Hirakud reservoir with opening of 20 numbers of gates and its impact on downstream area. She stressed upon to maintain the level of Hirakud reservoir as advised by the special technical committee formed for the purpose. DC-cum-ACS reviewed the Reservoirs position of all Major and Medium irrigation projects across the State in view of the IMD forecast for possible rain ahead and has directed that release of 
water from these reservoirs should be monitored scrupulously. She has also instructed that all the Dam authorities to intimate the district administration personally through email or WhatsApp or over the phone well before the release of flood water as well as to follow the SOP. All the senior officers are directed to impress their field-level officers to remain vigilant during the flood scenario. Today on 30.07.2024, DC- Cum- ACS Smt. Garg has also reviewed the flood scenario with the senior Engineers of the Water Resources. All have been asked to stay alert during the floods.
