Cuttack,23/3/2024 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 23.03.2024, Sri Banchhanidhi Satpathy Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired), Raisuan Circle under Sadar Tahasil, Dist-Keonjhar, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar TR No.08/2017 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7/12 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for demarcation of his land, was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine of Rs.2,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs.2,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act,1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Today the convict Sri Banchhanidhi Satpathy, Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired) was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Banchhanidhi Satpathy, Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired) following his conviction.
Smt. Hemamalini Nayak, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance, Balasore Division, A/p-DSP, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Sri Debadutta Biswal, Spl. PP, Vigilance, Keonjhar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
