Cuttack,29/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-On receipt of reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by Sri Srimant Kumar Sethi, Superintending Engineer (SE), Salandi Canal Division, Bhadrak, as illegal gratification from different sources, a team of Odisha Vigilance kept a close watch over the movement and activities of Sri Sethi.
Accordingly, today i.e. on 29.09.2022 at about 9.15 AM, the team of Odisha Vigilance intercepted Sri Sethi and his brother-in-law Sri Karunakar Sethi in front of the residential Govt. quarter gate of the S.E., Salandi Canal Division, Bhadrak located near Head Post Office, Bhadrak and suspected ill-gotten cash to the tune of Rs.5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs) was recovered, which Sri Sethi, SE could not account for satisfactorily. The cash of Rs.5 Lakhs as well as motor cycle bearing Regd. No.OR-22E-6226 have been seized.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.26 dated 29.09.2022 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Sri Srimanta Kumar Sethi, Superintending Engineer (SE), Salandi Canal Division, Bhadrak and his brother-in-law Sri Karunakar Sethi. Both the accused persons namely Sri Srimanta Kumar Sethi, SE and Sri Karunakar Sethi have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
Following interception, simultaneous searches are being conducted at the residential Govt. quarter of Sri Srimanta Kumar Sethi, SE at Bhadrak, residential house No.V-5, Delta Colony, Unit-8, Bhubaneswar, house of his relative at Angargadia, Dist-Balasore, house at native village Aldia, PS-Chandipur, Dist-Balasore & his office chamber at Bhadrak and residential house of Sri Karunakar Sethi at Gopalpur, PS-Khantapada, Dist-Balasore.
The investigation of the case is in progress.
