EX-JUNIOR ENGINEER (J.E) AND EX-SENIOR CLERK-CUM-CASHIER OF BANDHUGAON BLOCK, DIST-KORAPUT CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.

Cuttack,22/7/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Manoj Kumar Beura, Ex-J.E, Bandhugaon Block, A/p-J.E, Dasmantapur Block, Dist-Koraput and Sri Gopinath Mallik, Ex-Senior Clerk-cum- Cashier, Bandhugaon Block, A/p-Senior Clerk, office of Sub-Collector, Koraput were facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore in Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.16 dated 28.3.2009 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/409/468/471/201/120-B IPC for misappropriation of Govt. money of  Rs.1,00,000/- by manipulating the amount of the cheque from Rs.95,000/- to Rs.1,95,000/-.

Today, i.e. on 22.7.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore convicted Sri Manoj Kumar Beura, Ex-J.E. and Sri Gopinath Mallik,   Ex-Senior Clerk-cum-Cashier of Bandhugaon Block, Dist-Koraput and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months on each count for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13 (1)(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 409/120-B IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri Susanta Kumar Biswal, DSP Vigilance, Koraput Division had investigated the case and Sri M. Balaji Rao, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Jeypore conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
