Cuittack,24/12/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )-Sri Basudev Padhy, Ex-Senior Clerk (retired), office of CI of Schools, Ganjam Circle, Berhampur, Dist-Ganjam was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.39 dated 5.11.2009 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand) from a complainant for forwarding the annual recommendation for renewal of the services of his wife as Junior Clerk in a private school at Karnoli, Dist-Ganjam.
Today i.e. on 24.12.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur convicted Sri Padhy, Ex-Senior Clerk (retired) and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
