Cuttack,01/01/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )-  On receipt of reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by Sri Ranjan Kumar Das, District Sub-Registrar, Balasore as illegal gratification from different sources, the officers of Vigilance Balasore Division kept a close watch over the movement and activities of Sri Das.

 Accordingly, today i.e. on 1.1.2021, Vigilance Officers of Balasore Division intercepted him at 4.45 PM near Sheragada Toll Plaza on NH-16, while he was proceeding from Balasore to Puri in a hired private vehicle. During interception, a sum of Rs.2,23,580/- (Rupees Two Lakhs Twenty-three Thousand Five Hundred Eighty) was found from the possession of Sri Das, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS case No.1 dt.1.1.2021 has been registered U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Sri Ranjan Kumar Das, District Sub-Registrar, Balasore.

Following interception, his house at native village at Bajapur, Dist. Kendrapara and residential rented house at Puri town are being searched.

The investigation of the case is in progress.
