Cuttack / Bhubaneswar, 8/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhishek Mohanty ): A group of Congress activists scuffled with police near Badambadi Square in Cuttack district on Tuesday during Bharat Bandh.

As many as 19 Congress activists were detained by police for their violent protest.

The party activists reportedly broke the shutter of an ATM kiosk of Axis Bank near Badambadi Square.

In Bhubaneswar, the members of different farmers’ organizations, political parties and trade unions staged demonstrations and road blockades at Master Canteen Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Khandagiri Square and other road junctions in response to the strike called by farmers demanding immediate withdrawal of the new farm laws.

Impact of the strike was also felt in Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district, Jajpur, Balasore and Rayagada where vehicles stayed off the roads and shops remained closed.
