Bhubaneswar, 7/2/2026 ( Odisha Samachar/ Rajat Mohapatra )-Sri Sadique Alam, IAS assumed charge as Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Public Enterprises Department on 07.02.2026 (FN). Upon assuming charge, he undertook a comprehensive review of the Department’s mandate, functions and ongoing initiatives in relation to State Public Sector Undertakings (SPSUs).
He emphasised the need for adopting a proactive and reform-oriented approach, particularly with regard to strengthening the corporate governance framework of State PSUs. Stressing the importance of institutionalised and periodic performance reviews, he advised preparation of well-defined growth and financial trajectories aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability. He also highlighted the necessity of timely appointment of Independent Directors and Functional Directors to strengthen leadership, governance and decision-making in SPSUs.
He urged officers and staff of the Department to work in a spirit of teamwork and shared responsibility to transform State PSUs into professionally managed, vibrant and profit-making entities, contributing to the State’s economic growth in line with the Government of Odisha’s Vision 2036 and Vision 2047.
