Cuttack, 6/8/2025 ( Odisha Samachar ) -Today i.e. on 06.08.2025, Sri Hadibandhu Behera, Asst. Record Keeper, O/o Settlement Officer, Keonjhar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) ofRs.3,000/-(Rupees Three Thousand)from a complainant in order to provide him the certified copy of documents related to khatian and amin report in respect of their disputed ancestral land for which he had applied on 04.07.2025. The Complt, a poor farmer, had been requesting accused Sri Behera to provide the above documents. But, Sri Behera was demanding bribe Rs.3,000/- from the complt. to provide the documents, and refused to furnish the same unless he was paid the demanded bribe.Left with no other option, the complt. approached the Vigilance authorities narrating his harassment.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 06.08.2025, wherein the accused Sri Hadibandhu Behera, Asst. Record Keeper wasnabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.3,000/-(Rupees Three Thousand) from the complainant.The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Behera in presence of witnesses.Both hands was has well as pant pocket wash of Sri Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sri Behera at Keonjhar and his office room.Accused Sri Hadibandhu Behera, Asst. Record Keeper has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.8 dated 05.08.2025 U/s 7Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
