Bhubaneswar, 9/2/2024 ( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture,Bhubaneswar organized an awareness-cum-trainingprogramme on freshwater aquaculture under SCSP on 07th February 2024 at M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation in Koraput district of Odisha. There was participation of around 200 beneficiaries, which reflects a positive response from the community, indicating their interest about learning advanced scientific practices in aquaculture. Such type of programmes set a platform for exchanging of ideas and experiences between scientists and farmers, which is a vital part of these events. On this occasion, a team of scientists from ICAR-CIFA, Dr. G. S. Saha, Dr. Rakesh Das, and Dr. Bibhudatta Mishra, emphasized the importance of aquaculture and utilization of the latest technology from ICAR-CIFA for maximizing productivity in ponds. Dr. G. S. Saha spoke about the importance and better marketing provisions regarding fish farming. Dr. Rakesh Dasmade the farmers aware about the disease occurrence in fishes and also gave brief information on maintenance of a better pond environment to reduce incidence of diseases in fish population. Dr. Bibhudatta Mishra shared information on benefits of integrated fish farming system for maximizing the profit of farmers and different species of Indian Major Carps. The farmers were advised totest the soil and water quality of their ponds from time to time for enhancing production. Two powerpoint presentations were presented by Dr. Rakesh Das and Dr. Bibhudatta Mishra on Fish Disease and Integrated Farming System respectively.

S. Saha conveyed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors, and acknowledging the valuable knowledge and experiences shared during the programme.
