Cuttack,9/5/2022 ( Odisha Samachar)-Odisha Vigilance has arrested Sri Rajat Kumar Routray, Ex-Nazir of Jajpur Tahasil who was absconding since 2016 following his involvement in multiple cases of irregularities& Misappropriation of Govt. fund to the tune of Rs.4.95 Crore during the period from 01.04.2006 to 05.04.2016in connivance with other Govt. officials of Jajpur Tahasil.
An audit in this regard was conducted by a Special Audit Team of Board of Revenue, Odisha, Cuttack in 2016. On the basis of audit report, Odisha, Vigilance had initiated enquiry into the large scale bungling of Govt. funds.
Immediately after the audit was initiated in the matter, the Nazir had absconded. He had cut all contact with his family and close relations and remained untraceable all these years, by changing his name and identity, and frequently changing his whereabouts and mobile numbers. However, a month back a special team was formed by Odisha Vigilance to trace and nab the Nazir who was found to be the kingpin of the large scale misappropriation of Govt. funds at Jajpur Tahasil. Following sustained efforts, in an early morning raid he was found in rented house at CDA, Cuttack along with his second wife. When the Vigilance team reached the hideout of the Nazir, they locked themselves inside and the Nazir climbed a dark narrow pipeline passage going from the kitchen room and hid himself under the terrace. The Vigilance team broke open the door and after a thorough search managed to trace him hiding in the hole.
He has been arrested in three cases vide Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.19 dt.18.07.2019 U/s 13(1)(c)(d) of P.C. Act-1988/409/477-A/120-B IPC, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.7 dt.14.05.2020 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of P.C. Act-1988/409/477-A/120-B IPC and Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.8 dt.14.05.2020 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of P.C. Act-1988/409/477-A/120-B IPC which have been registered against him and other officials namely Sri Laxmikanta Mishra, Tahasildar (14.02.2014 to 03.09.2018), Sri Gourahari Behera, Tahasildar (04.03.2009 to 31.05.2018), Mrs. Mamata Barik, Tahasildar (31.05.2010 to 06.02.2014), Sri Sarat Chandra Barik, Nazir, Tahasil Jajpur (24.06.2013 to 10.10.2014) and others.
Sri Rajat Kumar Routray, Ex-Nazir of Jajpur Tahasil has already been dismissed from service by Odisha Government. He is being forwarded to the Court today.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
