Bhubaneswar, 10/12/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- On 9th and 10th of December 2021, a state level convention on human right was held and international human right day was observed. The convention and human right day observation was organized by CSFHR and other civil societies working in the field of human right.
The program was held at NABM, Prasar Bharati, Bhubaneswar. More than 100 activists across the state, NGO leaders, academicians, jurists and students participated in the two days long convention. On 9th of December 2021, human right defenders day was observed in which human right defenders across the state shared their experience of defending human right and promoting human values.
The sharing session centered on issues linked with rights of indigenous people on natural resources such as land forest and water and their entitlements. Participants also ventilated their difficulties they faced during forceful eviction and Indifference of state towards their plight.
On 10th of December 2021, international human right day was observed. Human chain was formed along the main road in front of Rail Sadan at Bhubaneswar. The objective was to make people aware of the importance of protecting and promoting human right & values. Followed by this, session was held explicitly on human right violation taking place in the country and how human right commission can help people in distress.
The session was chaired by member of OHRC Mr.Asim Amitabh Das. Ms Kasturi Mohapatra, former commissioner of OSCPCR chaired the subsequent session and shared her experience of dealing with human right issues of children, women and physically challenged. Panel discussions were held on the subject pertaining to right to land, house, forest and livelihood. Certificates of merit and awards were given to youths who ranked high in debate and essay competition held on this theme. Activists were also felicitated. Distinguished members of CSFHR who led the convention were Mr. Baghamber Pattnaik, Mr.Biswapriya Kanungo, Mr.Dhirendra Panda, Mr.Prafulla Samantray, Mr.Narendra Mohanty, Mr.Mahendra Parida and Mr.Chandranath Dani.
