Chief Justice of India dedicated ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’  

Cuttack,26/9/2021 ( Odisha Samachar / Debasis Rath )- Yesterday (Saturday ) i.e on 25.09.2021, Hon’ble Mr. Justice N.V. Ramana, the Chief Justice of India and Patron-in- Chief of NALSA dedicated to the people ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’ of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority, Cuttack (OSLSA) in the august presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice U.U. Lalit, Judge,  Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vineet Saran, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar, the Chief Justice of High Court of Orissa and  other Judges of the High Court of Orissa.
A brief tour was also provided to the Hon’ble dignitaries of the High Court’s newly established Record Room Digitization Centre which aims to be provide comprehensive solutions of record preservation, digitization, archival and retrieval all under one roof.  Delivering the welcome address in the Inaugural Event hosted at the Odisha Judicial Academy, Cuttack, Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar, the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court stated that there is a new energy infused ever since the Hon’ble CJI has taken over and that the foundation of the judiciary has got even stronger. He assured that he and his companion Judges in the Odisha State Legal Services Authority and the High Court LegalServicesCommittee will strive to ensure that no person in Odisha is turned away for want of justice. Justice Muralidharalso highlighted how more women judges are becoming part of the judiciary which is a very, very positive sign. Expressing delight associated with a homecoming experiencing, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vineet Saran reminisced his stint as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court when the land for the new building of OSLSA was acquired. He expressed satisfaction over the wonderful infrastructure that has come up in the shape of ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’ over such land and stated that with such new infrastructure at its disposal, OSLSA shall certainly provide better and speedy legal service to the needy and marginalized people of Odisha. He also hailed the noble work done by OSLSA for the public of Odisha during the pandemic. Sharing his delight upon visit to High Court’s newly established modern Record Room Digitization Centre, Hon’ble Mr. Justice U.U. Lalit praised the leadership of Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar and the initiatives of his companion Judges and the entire team of Officers with regard to storage and digitization of records. He added that to have dedicated the ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’ in the year when Legal Services have completed 25 years of existence is a fitting tribute and that it sets the benchmark for what is actually in store for stakeholders in future. Recalling Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar’s words from his doctoral thesis Justice Lalit emphasized that it is the aim of legal services authority that ‘legal aid for the poor does not mean poor legal aid’. He expressed his delight upon having come across the wonderful spirit of work and work culture amongst people who manned the various institutions during the visit. Delivering the key note address, Hon’ble Mr. Justice N.V. Ramana said that the cause of legal service is very close to his heart and reiterated that guarantee of equal justice forms the core beliefs of the framers of our Constitution. He reminded everyone that Constitutional aspirations shall never be achieved until the most vulnerable section can enforce their rights.The Hon’ble CJI hailed the initiatives of the High Court of Orissa and the Odisha Legal Services Authority in the field of legal services and expressed confidence that with the addition of the ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’ the legal aid movement in Odisha will gain a new momentum. He thanked the State Government and the Advocate General of Odisha for their keenness in ensuring improvement of the judicial infrastructure for betterment of stakeholders.  Highlighting the importance of selfless service in the field of legal aid and justice delivery, the Hon’ble CJI quoted Utkal Mani Gopabandhu Das and reminded everyone that our lives are truly measured by deeds and not days. Following the inaugural event, the Hon’ble CJI and other Hon’ble Judges visited the High Court of Orissa and undertook a brief tour at various places of importance in the Heritage and New Buildings.
