Anup Upadhyay is one of the most successful and cherished stars of television. The actor who is currently seen in Sony SAB’s Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai takes this time to relive his fond memories spent in his hometown in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Being born and brought up in Aligarh, Anup Upadhyay gets candid as he talks about his childhood days, the food he loves, and all the special memories attached to his hometown.
Sharing his fond memories, Anup Upadhyay said,“One of my fondest memories was getting ready to go watch Ramleela. Ramleela in Uttar Pradesh is like a festival. Most people from the city gather to watch it. It was always an exciting adventure to go watch it with my friends. The city was also known for its fashion sense. Back in the day, especially during winters, our mothers would knit special colourful sweaters. It was a delight to see everyone go by wearing different and beautiful knitted wear. My childhood days spent in my hometown; Aligarh will always be cherished. We friends used to go hangout with each other at a tea stall near the railway station and it used to feel like this what life is all about and this what is going to be like, that happiness is something very rare to find in today’s time.”
Talking about his favourite places in Aligarh, Anup Upadhyay said,“Aligarh mein Nadi ke paar waale Mele ki yaadein will always be cherished. We used to travel by boat and the place used to make us feel as if we have arrived in a new city. It simply used to amaze us. The fair was held every year for a month. There were many shows, dances, circus acts organised. We used to enjoy ourselves to the fullest and wait to attend the fair all over again. Besides that, one more speciality about this place was the food. Every morning people from the city would gather to gorge on Aloo Ki Kachori, warm Jalebis. It had its charm of taste. In today’s time, it is rare to find happiness in small things, everyone has become health conscious and avoid eating all these types of foods.”
Anup Upadhyay who plays the role of Jaldiram Sharma further said,“I last visited my hometown two years back and that too after 20 years. I finally managed to go back home. Everything seemed different, everything had changed. Though the changes made were progressive. Lastly, I would like to advise my fans to never forget their hometowns, birthplaces, their roots, their upbrings and all that they learnt because that’s who you are and that’s exactly what you showcase to the world.”
