Cuttack,9/9/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 09.09.2025, Sri Biswanath Das, Village Agriculture Worker (VAW) of Kadalimunda GP, Raniakota GP & Dhaurapalli GP under Kishorenagar Block, Dist-Angul has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) ofRs.20,000/-(Rupees Twenty Thousand)from an empanelled NGO of the Govt. (Complainant) to counter sign the Utilization Certificates related to distribution of seeds & pesticides to the farmers. The accused Sri Biswanath Das was a member in the distribution group. After distribution, when the complt approached the VAW, he demanded bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- to countersign the utilization certificates for clearance of bills. Left with no option, the complt approached the Vigilance authorities.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 09.09.2025, wherein the accused Sri Biswanath Das, VAW was nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance at the Portico of the office of Block Agriculture Officer,Kishorenagar for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/-(Rupees Twenty Thousand)from the complainant.The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Dasin presence of witnesses.Both hands was has well as pant pocket wash of Sri Dasgave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the temporary rented residential house of Sri Dasat village-Ghosar, PS-Kishorenagar, Dist-Angul and house at his native Village-Malibido, PO-Bido, PS-Motogaon, Dist-Dhenkanal. Accused Sri Biswanath Das, VAW has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.28 dated 08.09.2025 U/s 7Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
