Jagatsinghpur, 30/5/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )-On the second day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, launched nationwide from 29th May 2025 on the call of Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, various awareness programs were organized in Jagatsinghpur district under the joint collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, State Agriculture Department and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), which will continue till 12th June.
This campaign aims to disseminate information to farmers regarding modern agricultural technologies, various government schemes, improved seeds, and disease management while also collecting feedback and documenting farmers’ issues. In Jagatsinghpur district, three teams have been formed comprising members from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jagatsinghpur, ICAR-CIFA (Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture), ICAR-NIFMD (National Institute of Foot and Mouth Disease), District Agriculture Department, District Horticulture Department, District Soil Conservation Department, and District Fisheries Department. Each team is conducting two programs daily across different locations with the goal of reaching 15,000 farmers across all 8 blocks of the district by 12th June.
On the second day, the programs were held in various locations of Tirtol block including Ambari, Tentulipada, Jadatira, Gopalpur-S, Katarra, and Kanakpur. The events saw the participation of key district officials such as Shri Kartik Chandra Mallik, Chief District Agriculture Officer; Shri Bishwajit Panda, District Agriculture Officer, Jagatsinghpur; Shri Bibhudatta Sahu, District Agriculture Officer, Tirtol; Smt. Manswini Lenka, Block Agriculture Officer, Tirtol; Shri Samalei Prasad Parida; Smt. Swetapadma Bhoi, Assistant Horticulture Officer, Tirtol; and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra including Dr. Jibanjit Sen, Principal Scientist, Shri Debasish Panda, Dr. Pradeepta Majhi, Dr. Dwarika Mohan Das, Smt. Sasmita Purohit, Smt. Sarita Das, Balia Majhi, and Bijayini Sahu. From ICAR, participants included Dr. Jyotirmaya Mohanty, Dr. Jajati Keshari Mahapatra, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Bishwal, Dr. Himanshu Shekhar Swain, and Dr. Smrutirekha Mallik.
Scientists shared new knowledge and techniques developed in agriculture and allied sectors, addressed farmers’ problems, and offered necessary guidance. This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing agricultural productivity ahead of the Kharif season and embodies a unified national approach under the vision of “One Nation, One Agriculture,” marking a collaborative effort by the Central Government, State Government, ICAR, and Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology towards building a prosperous future for Indian agriculture.
