Labour Minister’s surprise visit to Nayapalli Labour Haat

Help desk to be opened for labourers /workers,  labour registration and labour card to be issued immediately

Bhubaneswar, 17/05/2025( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )- The people’s government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi is reaching the doorsteps of the people and listening to their grievances. Not only listening to the grievances but also resolving them promptly. The state government is working on the basis of the ideology of service, dedication and good governance. Emphasis is being laid on ensuring that all government facilities and government schemes are easily accessible to the person standing at the end of the queue in the society.

The present state government is truly the people’s government. A government sensitive to the poor. A government always dedicated to the people at the bottom of the ladder. In order to understand the real problems of the labour force  and take appropriate steps towards their solution, Shri Ganesh Ram SingKhuntia, Minister of Labour and State Employees’ Insurance and Forest, Environment and Climate Change Departments, made a surprise visit to the Nayapalli Labour Haat this morning. The main focus of the Labour Minister’s field visit was to see whether the various welfare government schemes implemented by the Labour Department and their benefits are reaching the workers or not.

While interacting with the labourers /workers at the Labour Haat, Minister Shri SingKhuntia enquired in detail about their various problems. He came to know that many workers do not have labour cards yet. Minister explained that without registration, labourers will be deprived of various financial assistance, such as education assistance, marriage assistance, maternity assistance, death assistance and funeral assistance.

He directed the departmental officers to open a help desk for the labourers/workers and immediately register them and issue them labour cards. Minister Shri Singkhuntia directed all the labour officers to accept their applications and take immediate action on them, listen to the problems of the labour brothers and sisters and resolve them promptly. Later, Minister visited the Multipurpose Workers’ Shelter in Dumduma and received various constructive suggestions from the workers and directed the officials to take immediate action on them.

During this visit, Labour Commissioner Shri Indramani Tripathi, Joint Labour Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Shri Pranab Kumar Patra, Khordha District Labour Officer Shri Prabhakar Biswal, District Labour Officer (Welfare) Smt. Monalisa Jena and other officials of Khordha District Labour Office were present.

It is worth noting that while no Labour Minister of the State Government had ever visited a labour haat before, this visit of Labour and State Employees’ Insurance Minister Shri Ganesh Ram Sing Khuntia was well received and appreciated by the workers.
