Perform, Reform, and Progress: Towards the Vision of Viksit Odisha

Bhubaneswar, 13/02/2025( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )-:In a significant step towards transforming urban governance in Odisha, the Housing & Urban Development Department convened its Monthly ULBs Meeting yesterday. Presiding over the meeting, Principal Secretary H&UD, Smt. Usha Padhee, urged all Urban Local Bodies to intensify their efforts in shaping the future of Urban Odisha through a comprehensive approach to urbanization and reforms.

Smt. Padhee highlighted the critical role of efficient public service delivery in driving sustainable urban development and emphasized the need for swift implementation of key flagship programs, including accelerating affordable housing for urban residents , enhancing urban infrastructure and basic services. Strengthening financial sustainability of ULBs. Improving roads, water supply, sanitation, and public amenities.

Senior officials, including the Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, and the Joint Secretary, presented actionable roadmaps with clear timelines to ensure progress across all 115 ULBs, District Urban Development Agencies (DUDA), and Development Authorities.

The meeting also reiterated the government’s commitment to a reform-driven urban transformation, focusing on capacity building, digital governance, and community participation. With Odisha aiming to set new benchmarks in urban development, ULBs were directed to implement data-driven strategies for improving sanitation, waste management, and municipal services.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Usha Padhee stated, “Urbanization is not just about expanding cities but about ensuring quality living standards for all. Through structured reforms, technological advancements, and participatory governance, we are committed to building a resilient and prosperous Urban Odisha.”

The meeting concluded with a collective resolution to strengthen coordination, improve service delivery, and fast-track development projects, ensuring that Odisha moves decisively towards its vision of Viksit Odisha.
