Bhubaneswar, 31/01/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )- Silicon University, Odisha celebrated its first Anniversary on Jan 31st, 2025. To commemorate the occasion, an eminent scientist with ground-breaking contributions to cancer immunotherapy and the 2018 Nobel Laureate, Prof. James P. Allison, gave the J.B.S. Haldane lectureas the Chief Guest. Prof. Padmanee Sharma, MD Anderson Cancer Centerin Houston, Texas and Dr.HincoGierman, Vice-President of Precision Oncology, Palm Beach Gardens, Floridawere the Guests of Honour. They visited the J.B.S. Haldane Center for Molecular Medicine, accompanied by the Center Head, Dr.Birendranath Banerjee. The host for the event was the Vice-Chancellor of Silicon University, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar.
Prof. Allison addressed the students of Silicon University, Odisha along with the high school students from the Future Bhubaneswar School, Bhubaneswar andRishi Valley School, Andhra Pradesh.
Silicon University, Odisha is expanding its programs to include allied health and medical sciences, such as translational health care initiatives and the development of cutting-edge modern tools in the emerging field of Molecular Medicine. Currently it offers a 2-year post-graduate degree program, M.Sc. (Molecular Medicine), and the first batch will be graduating in July 2025.
Silicon announced to operationalise a multi-speciality hospital at Sason, Sambalpur. Hospitals at Angul and Barbil are also being setup in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative under the Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW), Government of Odisha.
