Minister thrusts on Farmers’  Stake in Paddy Procurement

Insists on  delivering PDS ration every month

Bhubaneswar, 19/12/2024 ( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )-Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Shri Krushna Chandra Patra reviewed the various activities of the Department today at Conference Hall at Lokseva Bhawan. The meeting was held in the presence of Principal Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh,  Managing Director, State Civil Supply Corporation Shri Shubham Saxena, and other senior officials.

At the outset, Principal Secretary of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, briefed the minister about various activities undertaken by the department.

 The process of paddy procurement should be conducted smoothly in the current kharif season, Sri Patra said adding that the officials to give priority to the interests of the farmers and take immediate steps to address their grievances. He directed them to ensure that no registered farmer is deprived of paddy procurement.

Similarly, under the public distribution system, eligible beneficiaries will now be given monthly ration from January next year. He also stressed that if the ration of each month is provided by the last week of the previous month. On requirement basis, it will be provied for two months. For this, lifting should be on time to expedite the distribution process. He also emphasised to complete the process of e-KYC verification. So far, 84 per cent of the e-KYC process has been completed in the state.

He also directed to keep a close watch on price rise and to expediate enforce sqaud against hoarders. Creating massive awareness among public and filling up the vacancies in consumer forums in the districts were also discussed in the meeting.

Among others, senior officials of both the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department and the State civilSupply Corporation were also present.
