Bhubaneswar, 13/9/24( Odisha Samachar)- Sh. Pradeep Bal Samanta, Hon’ble Minister, Co-operation,Handloom and Textiles, today on 13.09.2024 had a review meeting on various ongoing activities and operations of various warehouses of Odisha State Warehousing Corporation at its Corporate Office in Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble minister accompanied by Hon’ble MLA, Badchana and other delegates during the review meetingprovided valuable insights and suggestions aimed at improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the corporation.

Key highlights of the Minister’s visit include a strong emphasis on integrating modern technologies such as CCTV surveillance and a comprehensive Warehouse Management System (WMS) to enhance transparency, security, and safety across the warehousing operations. Hon’ble Minister also proposed the establishment of a central monitoring unit to oversee and manage these systems effectively.In his address, the Minister highlighted the importance of business diversification as a means to increase the godown utilization rate and revenue of the Corporation by adopting new service sectors such as logistics, Handling & Transportation, Dis-infestation services etc. Recognizing the growing need for storage solutions, Hon’ble Minister also stressed the importance of constructing new warehouses of international standards adopting mechanization &automation, in areas with high demand, on pilot basis, identified through thorough market analysis and assessment of requirements. This initiative is expected to address the increasing demand for storage space and support the state’s economic growth.The Odisha State Warehousing Corporation welcomed the Minister’s suggestions and committed to implementing the recommended measures to improve the warehousing infrastructure and services. The meeting was concluded with a steadfastby the Managing Director, OSWC & other senior officials to enhancing the state’s warehousing capabilities and supporting the needs of agricultural and industrial sectors of Odisha.
