31st Foundation Day of Odisha State Women’s Commission observed

  • More than 80 thousand case registers since inception of the commission
  • The case disposal rate is 96.14%
  • Women’s Commission’s success storybook “Hasa Futila Paribar Tisthila” launched.

Bhubaneswar, 25/01/2024 (Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra)- Today is the 31st Foundation Day of the Odisha Women Commission. Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and extended his best wishes for the successful celebration of the Foundation Day. Due to the self-belief and courage of the women of Odisha, women of Odisha now become a part of the development of Odisha, he added.

On this occasion Smt. Basanti Hembram, Minister, Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti joined as chief speaker and opined that Odisha State Commission for Women has played a key role in the movement for women empowerment. She said that the Commission is taking major steps towards eradication of violence, crime, harassment and gender inequality against women.

Commission was committed to take legal action to prevent violence against women in the journey of women empowerment said Smt. Subha Sharma, Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Department.

On this occasion Dr. Minati Behera, Chairman, State Commission for Women Chairperson gave welcome address and explained all the major achievements of the Commission. The Chief Guest also released the book, a success story compiled by the Women Commission “Hass Futila Parivar Tisthila”. A video film was also screened on various activities undertaken by the State Commission for Women. The Commission also held a discussion on the causes and consequences of violence against women.

Shri Shyam Sundar Das, Director, Directorate of Public Prosecution and Mrs. S. Shyni, senior police officer also spoke on this occasion. Smt. Vithika Swain, Additional Secretary to Odisha State Women Commission, purposed vote of thanks to the dignitaries. District protection officer of all districts, officers of  Sakhi – One-Stop Centre, Swadhar, Ujjala and Jagruti’s workers, Voluntary workers, Social workers, advisors  for various departments of Government of Odisha along with a large number of women and students participated in the event.
