Odisha Breaking News : SRI VINOD KUMAR, IAS, Ex-M.D, ORHDC, MD. MOQUIM, M.D METRO BUILDERS, EX-COMPANY SECRETARY, ORHDC,   DIRECTOR, METRO BUILDERS AND THE FIRM M/S METRO BUILDERS PVT. LTD. CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.  

Cuttack,29/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 29.09.2022, 1) Sri Vinod Kumar, IAS, Ex-Managing Director, Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC), Bhubaneswar, 2) Sri Swasti Ranjan Mohapatra, Ex-Company Secretary, Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation, Bhubaneswar, 3) Md. Moquim, Managing Director, M/s Metro Builders Pvt. Ltd., 4) Sri Peeyusdhari Mohanty,  Director, Metro Builders Pvt. Ltd., and 5) M/s Metro Builders Pvt. Ltd. who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.7 dtd.30.03.2005 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and U/s 120-B/468/471/420 IPC for showing undue official favour, criminal misconduct, forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy and obtaining pecuniary advantage to M/s. Metro Builders Pvt. Ltd. by releasing funds in guise of loans meant for rural poor,  were convicted by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The convicts Sri Vinod Kumar, Ex-MD and Sri Swasti Ranjan Mohapatra, Ex-Company Secretary were sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months on each count for the offence U/s 13 (2) r/w 13(1)(d) P.C Act, 1988 and U/s 120-B/468/471/420 IPC. The convicts Md. Moquim, Managing Director and Sri Peeyusdhari Mohanty, Director, Metro Builders were also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months on each count for the offence U/s 120-B/468/471/420 IPC. All the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri Abhiram Kar, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Cell Cuttack had investigated the case and Sri Hemanta Kumar Swain, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
