BLOCK DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (BDO), GUDVELA BLOCK, DIST-BOLANGIR APPREHENDED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING RS 1,80,000/- BRIBE FROM A CONTRACTOR FOR CLEARING HIS PAST BILLS AND AWARDING HIM NEW CONTRACT.

Cuttack,26/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar ) –Today i.e. on 26.09.2022, Sri Binod Kumar Naik, OAS-1 (Junior), BDO, Gudvela Block, Dist-Bolangir has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,80,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Eighty Thousand) from a Complainant (Contractor) for clearing his past bills for executed work and for awarding him new contract (repair and construction of Govt. residential quarters).

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 26.09.2022, wherein the accused Sri Binod Kumar Naik, BDO was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance at Deulgudi chhak near Kedia rice mill, Gudvela while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,80,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Eighty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Naik and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Naik gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the Govt. residential quarter of Sri Naik at Tusura Block campus, house at native village Sagarpada near Badamath, Bolangir town and his office chamber at Gudvela Block.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.31 dated 25.09.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
