Cuttack,22/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 22.09.2022, Dr. Antaryami Sahoo, Ex-Medical Officer, Specialist in Surgery (Retired), Upgraded Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Hemgiri, Dist-Sundargarh who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.38 dtd.17.07.2008 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification (bribe) from the complainant for issuance of “Janani Surakhya Certificate” in favour of complainant’s wife to get Govt. incentive under “Janani Surakhya Scheme” was convicted by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13 (2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Dr. Sahoo following his conviction.
Sri Parameswar Kishan, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division, A/p-Addl. SP, Vigilance had investigated the case and Sri Gouramohan Dash, I/c Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Sundargarh conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
