3 GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONARIES ARRESTED IN A DAY BY ODISHA VIGILANCE FOR DEMANDING & ACCEPTING BRIBES; REVENUE INSPECTOR (RI), K.BARIDA RI CIRCLE UNDER KODALA TAHASIL, DIST-GANJAM ARRESTED WHILE ACCEPTING RS 25,000/- BRIBE; REVENUE INSPECTOR (RI), ACHYUTAPUR, PS-JANKIA, DIST-KHURDHA ARRESTED WHILE ACCEPTING RS 8,000/- BRIBE; GRAM ROJGAR SEVAK (GRS), ANALAKUDA GP, SULIAPADA BLOCK, DIST-MAYURBHANJ ARRESTED WHILE ACCEPTING RS 9,000/- BRIBE.

Cuttack, 10/8/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 10.08.2022, Sri Debasis Majhi, Revenue Inspector (RI), K.Barida RI Circle under Kodala Tahasil, Dist-Ganjam has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-five Thousand) from the complainant (owner of vehicle) for release of his tipper. The complainant had agreed to pay the prescribed fine amount of Rs 30,000/- for release of the tripper. However the RI demanded further Rs 25,000/- as bribe to release the same.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 10.08.2022, wherein the accused Sri Debasish Majhi, RI was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance  in his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-five Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Majhi and seized in presence of witnesses. Wash of both hands of Sri Majhi gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented house of Sri Majhi at Shanti Nagar, Beguniapada, Kodala, Dist-Ganjam, his residential house at Baripalli, PS-Ganja, Dist-Ganjam and his office room. Accused Sri Debasish Majhi, RI has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Berhmapur Vigilance P.S. Case No.14 dated 09.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

In one more Vigilance Operation today, Sri Gouranga Sabara, Revenue Inspector (RI), Achyutapur, PS-Jankia, Dist-Khurdha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand) from the complainant, being a legal heir of a parental property, in order to prepare RoR of the property in his favour.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 10.08.2022, wherein the accused Sri Gouranga Sabara, RI was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,000/-(Rupees Eight Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sabara and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Sri Sabara gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented house of Sri Sabara at Galua Chhak, PS-Banapur, Dist-Khurdha and his office room. Accused Sri Gouranga Sabara, RI has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.24 dated 08.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

In the third Vigilance Operation today, Sri Goura Mohan Soren, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS), Analakuda GP, Suliapada Block, Dist-Mayurbhanj has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.9,000/- (Rupees Nine Thousand) from a MNREGS labour leader for release of Muster Roll for engagement of laborers in MGNREGS work.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 10.08.2022, wherein the accused Sri Goura Mohan Soren, GRS was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance in his rented house at Analakuda while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.9,000/-(Rupees Nine Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Soren and seized in presence of witnesses. Wash of both hands of Sri Soren gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented house of Sri Soren at Analakuda, PS-Suliapada, Dist-Mayurbhanj and his office room. Accused Sri Gouramohan Soren, GRS has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.22 dated 09.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
