2 SEPARATE OPERATIONS IN A DAY BY ODISHA VIGILANCE.

REVENUE INSPECTOR, JAPA, DIST-JAGATSINGHPUR ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING RS 10,000/- BRIBE.

ASSETS WORTH OVER RS 1.17 CRORE UNEARTHED IN HOUSE SEARCH OF JUNIOR ENGINEER(JE), RW SECTION-I, DIGAPAHANDI UNDER RURAL WORKS DIVISION-II, BERHAMPUR, DIST-GANJAM.

Cuttack,28/12/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 28.12.2021, Sri Samir Kumar Mallick, Revenue Inspector (RI), Japa, Dist-Jagatsinghpur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant in order to favour him in a mutation case in Ersama Tahasil in the district of Jagatsinghpur.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 28.12.2021 wherein the accused Sri Samir Kumar Mallick, RI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Mallick and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Mallick gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sri Mallick at Chanarpur, PS-Balikuda, Dist-Jagatsinghpur and office room at Japa, Ersama, Jagatsinghpur. He has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.55 dated 27.12.2021 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

In one more Vigilance Operation today, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Sri Bansidhara Sethi, Junior Engineer (JE),  RW Section-I, Digapahandi under Rural Works Division-II, Berhampur, Dist-Ganjam at 5 places i.e. 1) residential triple storeyed building at Shakti Nagar, Berhampur, 2) house at native village Chirikipada Sasan, PS-Polasara, Dist-Ganjam, 3) house of relative at Lochapada, Berhampur, 4) office room at Digapahandi, Dist-Ganjam and 5) office of Rural Works Division-II, Ambapua, Berhampur, Ganjam today i.e. on 28.12.2021 by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 2 DSsP, 6 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

1 triple storeyed building at Shakti Nagar, Berhampur, 5 numbers of plots at Nimakhandi and Ambapua in Berhampur Town, 2 numbers of two wheelers, Insurance deposits worth Rs.10.46 Lakh, gold & silver ornaments worth Rs.10 Lakh, Bank deposits over Rs.8.75 Lakh and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 1.17 Crore have been unearthed during the house search so far.

Further searches are continuing.
