Cuttack,11/11/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Antaryami Baral, EX-Secretary, Batagaon GP, Kankadahada Block, Dist-Dhenkanal was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal in Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.23 dated 28.06.2006 U/s 7 E.C. Act/13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/409/477-A IPC for misappropriation of PDS Rice meant for the actual beneficiaries.
Today, i.e. on 11.11.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal convicted Sri Baral, Ex-Secretary and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 409 IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 477-A IPC and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.3,000/-(Rupees Three Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.3,000/-(Rupees Three Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months and to pay fine of Rs.1,000/-(Rupees One Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 E.C. Act. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
Sri Bibhuti Bhusan Rout, Ex-Inspector Vigilance, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Sri K.C. Pattnaik, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Dhenkanal conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
