Cuttack,31/7/2021 ( Odisha Samachar)-On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Shri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission, Bhubaneswar at 6 places in Bhubaneswar & Cuttack on 30.07.2021 by 3 teams of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division comprising 4 DSsP, 13 Inspectors and other staff.

              2 Nos. of double storeyed buildings at Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar, 2 Nos. of single storeyed buildings at Bhakti Vihar, Bhubaneswar and Godibandha, Dist-Cuttack, 14 Nos. of plots in Bhuabneswar, Khordha and Puri, 1 four wheeler, 2 Nos. of two wheelers, Insurance deposits worth over 56 lakh, cash recovered from house of Shri Sahoo over Rs.12 lakh, cash recovered from house of his relative over Rs.13 lakh, gold ornaments weighing approx 1.5 Kg worth over Rs.60 lakh and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 3.79 Crore have been unearthed during the house search till now. Bank slips indicating huge cash deposits in Bank accounts have also been recovered. Recruitment related applicant admit cards and such other incriminating documents have also been recovered during the searches.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.3,51,51,921/- (Rupees Three Crore Fifty-one Lakh Fifty-one Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-one) which constitutes 268% of his known sources of income.

As Sri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission, Bhubaneswar was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.16 dt.31.07.2021 was registered against Sri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act-2018. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 31.07.2021, Sri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
