Bobby Deol proves he’s the undisputed OTT King, bags his first Best Actor Award for Ashram

The digital renaissance has given us our new age superstar in Bobby Deol. Turning the tables with his calculated choices and brilliant performances. The actor, who delivered one of his career best performances as the manipulative and calculative godman in Ashram, has been at the receiving end of all the applause, ever since the first season went live. And now, all the hard work seems to have paid off fabulously for the talented star, who also bagged his first award as the Best Actor for the show.

At the recently held Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards in Mumbai, which is one of the most esteemed and respected awards in the country, Bobby was presented the Best Actor Award for his fantastic portrayal of the menacing Baba Nirala in the much loved series. What makes this award special is this happens to be Bobby’s first award recognising his work in his 25 year long career. It has been a long wait for Bobby to have been the best debutant in 1995 to get recognition for his work. Ever since he started his career with Barsaat, Bobby has always entertained the audience and been the most commercial stars in the 90s. But today, with the OTT boom, he has created a new niche for himself and he totally deserves it!

An elated Bobby shares, “I feel so emotional and happy, all at the same time with this award in my hand. The love that I got for my role in Ashram leaves me overwhelmed each time someone speaks to me about it. It was definitely a very difficult and challenging role and I’m happy the audiences loved it too. But this award just goes on to validate that my instincts were right. This is my first in my entire career and that’s why it is also very special. It feels very nice to be recognised and appreciated. All our efforts have finally paid off. I can’t wait to bring the next season of Ashram for everyone.” With the series turning out to be the most watched one last year, anticipation for the next season has already sky rocketed!
