FOREST GUARD CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE TRAP CASE.

Cuttack,28/01/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Manoranjan Amat, Forest Guard, Shankarkhol Beat House under Tikabali Forest Range, Dist. Kandhamal, A/p. Forest Guard, Indragada Forest Beat under Karada Forest Range, Dist. Kandhamal was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.21 dt.16.5.2018 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from complainant Sri Srimukha Kanhar of village Sirkakuti, PS-Tikabali, Dist. Kandhamal in order to not entangle him in a forest case.

Today i.e. on 28.1.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani convicted Sri Amat and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13 (2)  Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Sri P. Chhatria, Inspector, Vigilance, Phulbani Unit at present working as Inspector, Vigilance, Boudh Unit under Berhampur Division had investigated the case and Sri P.K. Dora, Addl. Spl. P.P conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
