Bhubaneswar, 17 /07/2026( Odisha Samachar ): People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), one of Odisha’s leading socio-cultural and development organizations, celebrated its 37th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at Mohabodhi Society of India, Budha Mandir Conference Hall, Bhubaneswar. The celebration commenced with a symbolic plant watering ceremony by the distinguished guests, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Welcoming the gathering, Ms. Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director, PECUC, highlighted the organization’s journey and thanked all who have contributed to PECUC’s growth over the past 37 years.Shri Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC, reflected on the organization’s 37-year journey of service and social transformation and appreciated the unwavering support of the Board of Management, staffs, volunteers, donors, government departments, civil society organizations, media, and community members. He said, “For 37 years, PECUC has worked with communities to ensure children, women and youth has opportunities to thrive, and live with dignity in a safe, inclusive, and violence-free society and community is empowered to protect the environment. On this occasion we are renewing our commitment to serve people with integrity and compassion for creating a sustainable future.” Dr. Minakshi Panda, Chairperson, PECUC, stated, “The strength of PECUC lies in its values, credibility, and the trust it has earned from communities.”
Shri Pradosh Kumar Patnaik, Senior journalist and eminent artist Shri Banchhanidhi Pattnaik were felicitated in recognition of their invaluable contributions over the years.
PECUC released two awareness films produced by PECUC:”Mo Katha Ama Katha”, a film on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), directed by eminent artist and filmmaker Shri Subhransu Ranjan Nayak.”Basudha”, a musical film promoting environmental protection, directed by eminent singer&music directorShri Manmath Mishra.
The dignitaries who extended their greetings and congratulated the organization includedAshok Pattnaik, OAS (Retd.), Ashwini Das, IAS(Retd), Former Labour Commissioner, Dr. Seba Mohapatra, Gynaecologist, Chitralekha Mohanty& Sharmila Sahoo, Academician, Dr. B.B Acharya, Senior Consultant, Labour and ESI, Manoranjan Das of CRS. The board of Management members of PECUC, Dr. Asokananda Dhara, Dr. Snehaprabha Samantaray, Bandita Das, Ahuti Baral, Parag Patnaik, Anwesha Behurashared their association and experiences with PECUC.
Youth Workshop on “Youth as Climate Leaders: Local Action for a Sustainable Environment” was also organized. Joining as Chief Guest Ms Anita Sethy, Asst. Conservator of Forests, City Forest Division,Bhubaneswar, inaugurated the workshop. Panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Shushree Shailani Suman and Founder President of ECOSAVERS Youth Network. Youth leaders Subham Rout, Smrutimayee Parija, Sonali Behera, Tanmayee Pattasahani, Tulasi Muduli, Ronak Mallick, Jasmin Das and others shared inspiring experiences and innovative ideas on promoting youth-led environmental action.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Ratna Dash, Treasurer, PECUC. The event wascoordinated by Jyotishankar Mohan ty, Pooja Panda, Rashmirekha Sahoo, Sumitra Mohanty, Panu Behera, Upama Mohanty, Ankita Barik and other members of the PECUC team.
