CUTTACK,29/01/2026 ( ODISHA SAMACHAR / DIPTI RANJAN KANUNGO) Based on receipt of reliable information regarding collection of illegal cash by Dr.SanatanaBehera, Associate Professor, Department of Hepatology, SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttackfrom participating biddersfor supply of medical instruments to hepatology department, a team of Odisha Vigilance kept a close watch over the movement and activities of Dr.Behera.
Today i.e. on 29.01.2026, the team of Odisha Vigilance intercepted himat Kathagolasahi-Medical Road, Cuttack while he was proceeding to his residential Govt. quarter in his Hero Honda Activa Scooter bearing Regn No. OD05-BS-7309. During interception, a sum of Rs.2,63,000/- (Rupees Two LakhSixty-three Thousand) was found from possession of Dr.Behera, which he could not account for satisfactorily.The entire cashof Rs.2,63,000/-as well as Hero Honda Activa Scooterhave been seized.
Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches have been launched atGovt. residential quarter at Cantonment Road, triple storeyed building at CDA Sector-6, Cuttack and his clinic “Eko Imaging Institute and Pro” at Mangalabag Medical road, Cuttack.
In this connection, CuttackVigilance PS case No.04dated 29.01.2026 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (b)/ 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Dr.SanatanaBehera, Associate Professor, Department of Hepatology, SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack.Accused Dr.Behera has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
