New Delhi, 20/01/2026 – Known for its compelling narratives and meaningful initiatives, Sony BBC Earth has successfully concluded the fifth edition of its much-celebrated photography contest – ‘Earth In Focus’. Centred around the evocative theme ‘Shades of Life’, this season witnessed an overwhelming response from photography enthusiasts across the country, reaffirming the platform’s growing stature as a celebration of India’s diversity through visual storytelling.The contest received an impressive 3 thousand plus entries across all categories, with participation pouring in from photographers from every corner of India.
Judged by renowned Wildlife Photographer and Educator Sudhir Shivaram, the competition showcased exceptional talent, creativity, and storytelling. Through powerful imagery submitted under the subcategories from Medinipur (West Bengal) Pratap Patra, from Palakkad (Kerla) Sajeev J K & from Pune Indranil Basu Mallick are the three winners of the categories Glow of Earth, Colours of Culture, and Vibrant Wild respectively. The participants beautifully captured the unity, diversity, and dynamic essence of life on our planet.
Marking the culmination of a highly successful season. The top three winners were awarded a GoPro Hero 13 each and earned the prestigious opportunity to have their work featured on the Sony BBC Earth channel. Additionally, the top 15 shortlisted photographers received exclusive mentorship through a masterclass conducted by Sudhir Shivaram, further nurturing the next generation of visual storytellers.
With its fifth edition concluding on a high note, ‘Earth In Focus’ once again reinforces Sony BBC Earth’s commitment to inspiring exploration, storytelling, and a deeper appreciation for the planet we share.
