Weeklong 36th PECUC Sisumela Culminated….

Many Talented Children and Eminent Personalities Awarded

Bhubaneswar, 20/11/2025 ( Odisha Samachar/Rajat Mohapatra)-Eminent speakers at the concluding session of the 36th PECUC Sisumela underscored that the foundation of a healthy and progressive society lies in the overall well-being of its children. They stressed that families and schools must work collaboratively to nurture young minds, foster positive attitudes, and instill strong moral values essential for their holistic development. The 36th year of the children’s festival, ‘PECUC Sisumela’, concluded amidst vibrant colours, creativity, and celebration. The event not only showcased the spirit and talents of children but also added another remarkable milestone to the legacy of PECUC Sisumela leaving behind lasting smiles, inspiration, and cherished memories in the hearts of all who attended.

Addressing the closing ceremony, chief guest Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Hon’ble Member, National Human Right Commission, India stressed that safeguarding children’s rights is essential for building a just and humane society. He emphasized that collective action by families, schools, communities, and institutions is vital to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. Mr. Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, Eastern Media Pvt. Ltd., encouraged children to always value their parents’ guidance and to take pride in their motherland and mother tongue. Among others Smt. Usha Padhi, IAS, Principal Secretary, Urban Development & Urban Housing Department & Commerce and Transport Department, Govt. of Odisha, Smt. Babita Patra, Chairperson, Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Sri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Labour & ESI Deptt., Odisha, Anuradha Biswal, Olympian   inspired the children, urging them to pursue their dreams with determination and to nurture their innate talents. They also reminded the young participants that consistent effort and self-belief is key to unlock their true potential. This programme was presided over by President, PECUC Sisumela Committee and Renowned Journalist Mr. ProdoshKumar Pattnaik and Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC gave the introductory note. Dr. Minakshi Panda, chairman PECUC also spoke on the occasion. Vote of Thanks was given by Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director, PECUC.

On this occasion children and adults personalities were honoured with many prestigious annual awards for outstanding performance in different fields. Child Artist Adwika Dash received “Dr. Sarat Chandra Pujari Memorial Award 2025” for acting, Purbi Pratyasha Mahaling  received “Prafulla Chandra Das Memorial Sisu Prativa Award 2025” for all round achievement, “Baji Rout Memorial Award 2025” to Satyaprakash Sethi for bravery and courageous activity, “Prananath Pattnaik Memorial Award 2025” to Pratikhya Swain for social work,” Adaramani Baral Memorial Award 2025” to Dibyani Rout for girl leadership, “Sushama Mohapatra Memorial Award 2025” to Bijayalaxmi Behera for outstanding achievement in the field of sports, Vaishnabi Pati was chosen for “Baby of the Year award 2025”. Senior Journalist Sj. Bhabani Tripathy was honoured with “Swarup Jena Memorial Award 2025” for outstanding contribution in the field of journalism, where as “Abani Baral Memorial Award 2025” to Sj. B. Istadata Mahapatra for his contribution in the field of teaching, “Sisusathi Award 2025” to  Nagendranath Pattnaik for outstanding contribution for children literature, “Prafulla Chandra Dash Memorial Sisu Adhikar Surakshya Award 2025” to Sj. Ajit Kumar Mohaptra for his work in the field of protection of Child Rights. Winner of the Modern Dance Competition received their prize.

Child artists of cultural groups of Amrita Vidyalayam, Dasavatara Natyasala, Tapasya Devotion for Dance, Kutti kids, Kirti Behera & group, Lakshya Dance Academy, Nrutyanshhee, Dibyajyoti, Capital High School,  Soumya & group performed colourful cultural programme  Ratna Dash, Jyoti Sankar Mohanty, Puja Panda, Upama Mohanty, Sumitra Mohanty, Anwesha Behura etc. of PECUC conducted the programme. The programme was anchored by Arushi Adwika and Harshali Dora.. In this week long children festival was supported by Odia Literature, Language and Culture Department, Labour and ESI Deptt.,   Govt of Odisha and AEIN.   Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Unique, Inner wheel club of Bhubaneswar, Herbage Herbals, IMFA, Canara Bank, Priyadarshini Saree House, Devine Spa near Pokhariput, Saptagiri Medicine Store,  and many other organizations and persons also supported this initiative.
