10th Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop concludes

# MoU signed between Odisha Government and Film Heritage Foundation for establishment of film archive

Bhubaneswar, 19/11/2025 ( Odisha Samachar/Rajat Mohapatra)-Film depicts the real image of our socio-cultural life. With its preservation, the cinematic gems, which is being lost from our memory, can be revived and preserved said by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. He said this while participating as the chief guest in the concluding ceremony of the 10th Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop held at Kalabhoomi.

Minister for Co-operation, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Shri Pradeep Bal Samanta also attended the event and said, old Odia films are a source of inspiration for future generations. It is our responsibility to preserve them.

An MoU was signed between the Odisha Government and the Film Heritage Foundation for establishment of a state film archive. The MoU was signed by Commissioner cum Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar and Director, Film Heritage Foundation, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur.

It is worth noting that the “10th Film Conservation and Restoration Workshop” was organized from November 12 in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation, International Federation of Film Archives and the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department of the state government. The workshop, which began at the Odisha Handicrafts Museum, Kalabhoomi, concluded today. All 59 participants who attended the workshop were felicitated with certificates and mementos.
