In her official statement, she expressed deep concern over the growing fear and lawlessness reported by local traders, stating that many residents are aware of the culprits but are afraid to speak out due to threats to their livelihoods.
She pointed to reports of alleged assault and use of abusive language against a journalist by the market association’s president, which was widely covered by the media but has not yet seen firm police action.Pattnayak emphasized that residents of the state capital should not live under fear and demanded that offenders be identified and prosecuted under law. She appealed for strong administrative steps to restore public confidence and ensure that peace and safety prevail in the marketplace.
