Bhubaneswar, 3/11/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )-ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, commenced the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” from 27 October 2025.
The inauguration took place on 27 October at 11:00 AM with the solemn recitation of the Integrity Pledge for Citizens and the Integrity Pledge for Organizations by all employees at the ICAR-CIFA Headquarters in Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar. The event was simultaneously observed at the institute’s regional research centres located at Rahara (West Bengal), Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Bhatinda (Punjab). Dr. Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA, along with other officials and staff members, were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within the organization. As part of the inaugural programme, Dr. Shailesh Saurabh, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer of ICAR-CIFA, delivered an insightful presentation on the theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” He highlighted the role of vigilant practices in ensuring good governance and preventing corruption at all levels. To further engage the employees and promote awareness, a quiz competition on vigilance-related topics was organized on the same day.
A debate competition was organized on 28th October,2025 for the staff of ICAR-CIFA. A rangoli competition on the theme was also organised on 29th October, 2025. On the same day a Capacity Building programme was conducted where the Finance and Accounts Officer Sri Yaswant Sorte created awareness about various Finance rules and regulations to help the staff of ICAR-CIFA to undertake their duty transparently and vigilantly.
On 30th October ,2025, an Awareness Gram Sabha was organized at the Umadeibrahmapur Gram Panchayat of Balianta Block of Khordha District to create awareness among the public on initiatives of Government on Prevention of Corruption. A team of scientists from ICAR-CIFA and KVK participated in this programme. Around 100 villager participated in the Gram Sabha and took the integrity pledge.
A sensitization workshop was organized on 31 October 2025 on “Preventive Vigilance’. On this occasion, Shri. Shishir Kumar Mishra, Ex- DGP J&K Cadre and Chief Guest delivered a talk and emphasized the role of preventive vigilance in eradicating corruption. Drawing inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita, he narrated insightful examples and slokas that emphasize righteousness, self-discipline, and moral courage in public service.
His address left a deep impression on the participants, motivating them to uphold integrity and transparency in all their professional endeavors. Dr. P. K. Sahoo, Director, in his concluding address, urged all employees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and commitment to duty, ensuring that the institute continues to serve its stakeholders with transparency and fairness.
Dr. Shailesh Saurabh, Vigilance Officer, presented a summary of the week’s activities and extended gratitude to all staff members for their enthusiastic participation. The Chief Guest also handed over certificates to the winners of the debate, quiz and rangoli competition. Dr. Husne Banu, Scientist proposed the vote of thanks.
