FURTHER, CASH OF RS.1.54 LAKHS RECOVERED & SEIZED.
Cuttack, 23/9/2025 ( Odisha Samachar)-Today i.e. on 23.09.2025, Sri SibaMallick, OAS, Tahsildar, Mahakalpada, Dist-Kendraparahavebeen apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.20,000/-(Rupees Twenty Thousand)from a complainant for helping in eviction of an illegal structure over Govt. land obstructing the passage to his (complainant’s) house.
In this connection, the Complt. had filed an encroachment case in the year 2024. Following this, the RI concerned had submitted a report in April 2024 to TahasildarMahakalpada confirming forcible encroachment of Govt. land by some miscreants blocking the common road. Since then, the Complt. met Sri Mallick, the competent authority to evict illegal encroachment, several times requesting for help in removing the illegal encroachment blocking his access. However, Sri Mallick, Tahasildar demanded bribe Rs.20,000/- from the Complt. for the purpose, stating that the file would be kept pending for years otherwise. Left with no other option, the Complt. reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.09.2025, wherein the accused Sri SibaMallick, OAS, Tahsildar wasnabbedby the team of Odisha Vigilance in his rest room for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/-(Rupees Twenty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Mallick in presence of witnesses.
Both hands wash of Sri Mallick, Tahasildar gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launchedon the temporary residence of Sri Mallick, Tahasildarat Mahakalpada,double storeyed building located at village Baghilobabanapur, Derabish, one Market complex at Baghilobabanapur, Derabish with an area approx. 3600 Sq. ft., double storeyed building at village Ganeshpur, Kendrapara, triple storeyed building located at BhagabatpurKendrapara, his son’s house located at Delanga, Dist-Puri and his office chamber. During house searches, cash Rs.1.54 lakhs was recovered and seized.Accused Sri SibaMallick, OAS, Tahsildar, Mahakalpada has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.29 dated 22.09.2025 U/s 7Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation
