Cuttack, 3/9/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 03.09.2025, 8 accused personsnamely 1) Smt. Mani Das, 2) Smt. Pravati Das, 3) Smt. Pramila Das, 4) Smt. Lili Das, 5) Smt. Chabilata Das, 6) Smt. Hema Das, 7) Smt. ShantilataParida and 8) Smt. MamataParida all are of Village-Kuruki, Ps-Naugaon, Dist-Jagatsinghpur were arrested by the officers of Odisha Vigilance from the above village for defalcation and fraud of Govt. funds sanctioned in favour of them under “SGSY” (Swarna Jayanti Gram Swa rozgarYojana) Scheme for purchase of milchy cows.
The scheme is to provide sustainable income to the rural poor through self-employment and integrates the organization of beneficiaries into SHGs, coupled with training, credit, technology, infrastructure & marketing support etc to bring families above the poverty line. However, the above 8 accused persons, beneficiaries of a self-help group did not purchase the cows, and thereby embezzled the Govt. funds.Following the misappropriation, all the above accused persons were on a run since the last one & half years to evade arrest. However, a special team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed them today and produced before the Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack.
In this connection, they were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act, 1988/420/467/468/471/120-B IPC for the offence. Apart from the above accused persons, the other two accused charge sheeted in the above case including one Govt. servant Sri Kunja Bihari Swain, the then VAS, Naugaon, Jagatsinghpur & Sri Ranjit Kumar Behera, approved supplier of the Govt. also involved in the misappropriation of the Govt. funds of the said scheme are appearing before the Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack for trial.
