Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar,21/2/2024 ( Odisha Samachar)- ICAR- Central Institute of FreshwaterAquaculture,Bhubaneswar, organized aKisan Mela-cum-Exhibition on Scientific Aquacultureunder SCSP project on 20^th February 2024 at V. G. Auditorium, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Over250farmers and farmwomen participated in the mela.Dr. P. K. Sahoo, Director of ICAR-CIFA, inaugurated the Kisan Mela and the Exhibition. Dr. Sahoo briefed on several CIFA technologies that assist farmers in optimizing their income.He also mentioned about the three successful women entrepreneurs who have achieved milestones in different sectors of agriculture. He stressed on the branding of the various products produced by the successful SHG groups. Shri Jagadish Panda, DDF, Puri, Govt. of Odisha, attended as the Guest of Honor. He informed the participants about various schemes of government related to fisheries. Dr. H. K. De, Principal Scientist, Co-ordinator SCSP, in his welcome address expressed heart-felt gratitude to the farmers for their overwhelming presence in this mela.The three progressive farmwomen; Kumuduni Swain (CEO, Maheera FPO),SasmitaSahoo (Abhipsa IFS) and SukantiBehera (Coir Enterprises) were felicitated on this occasion. They shared their experience which was quite encouraging for the other farmers.

A group of scientists of ICAR-CIFA, Dr. P.C. Das, Dr. S.K. Sahoo, Dr. S. S. Mishra, Dr. P. Routray, Dr. K. C. Das, Dr. S. N. Sethi, Dr. C. K. Mishra, Dr. N. K. Barik, Dr. K. Murmu, Dr. D. Panda participated in the farmer- scientist interaction session.Nine Exhibition stalls from various departments, including OUAT, ICAR-NRRI, ICAR-CIWA, ICAR-IIWM, ICAR-CTCRI, ICAR-DPR, ICAR-IIHR, KVK- Khordha,Dept. of Fisheries, Govt. Of Odisha, and someWomen Self Help Groups were placed at CIFA campus. Lastly, Dr. S. N. Sethiconveyed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors, and acknowledging the valuable knowledge and experiences shared during the programme.
