WODC Chairman reviewed various projects in Kalahandi district

Bhubaneswar, 15/2/2024 ( Odisha Samachar/Rajat Mohapatra )-  Shri Asit Tripathy, Chairman, Western Odisha Development Council reviewed various developmental projects of Kalahandi district. Shri Tripathy had a detailed discussion with District Collector P. Anvesha Reddy. ShriTripathy recently visited Kalahandi district and reviewed many projects and directed to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for their improvement. On this basis, a review meeting was held today at KharavelBhawan. Protecting the unique heritage is the responsibility of all of us. Kalahandi district has many historical places. The chairman said that the WesternOdisha Development Council (WODC) gives financial grants at various times by giving importance to conservation, maintenance and beautification of these places. Chairman ShriTripathy emphasized on the beautification of ancient structure in ancient ways.

       WODC has provided 2 crore for the regeneration and rejuvenation of the water reservoir near Bimal Convent School in Bhawanipatna.Chairman Shri Tripathy informed that it can be useful for the local people. On the other hand, Shri Tripathy has discussed with the District Collector for the improvement of Dhabaleswar temple, an ancient Shiv temple of Mohanagiri in M.Rampur block. He said, “This is an ancient Shiv temple. The Council will take all necessary steps for its maintenance. This ancient temple will be beautified in ancient style. The museum in the temple courtyard will be developed and the nearby pond will be restored”.

It was discussed in today’s meeting to build a place especially for stone carving artisans in Kandagarh in Koksara block. The Chairman informed that, where, training will be given to the artisans for their skill development and a special shop will be set up for the sale of their artefacts. The council has also planned to develop Churapahada in Golamunda block as eco-tourism. Chairman ShriTripathy has directed the district administration to arrange seating, drinking water, toilets, footpaths, trekking tracks, parking etc. for the convenience and safety of local tourists. In addition, he informed that the restoration and beautification of the Ranibandh tank in Narla block will be done.

The meeting was attended by various officials from Koksara, M.Rampur and Golamunda blocks, Chief Executive Officer of the Council Dr. Ajit Kumar Mishra and Technical Consultant Shri Sunil Kumar Naikwas present.
