Bhubaneswar, 6/12/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Khordha, ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar celebrated World Soil day in association with Agriculture District office, Tangi and IFFCO, Bhubaneswar on 05.12.2022 at FAIC Building, Tangi, Khordha. Around 87 numbers of farmers and farmwomen including Scientists of KVK, Officers from IFFCO and Department of Agriculture, Tangi participated in the programme.
The Chief Guest of the programme Mr. Prasanna Kumar Mishra, Agriculture District Officer, Tangi inaugurated the programme and informed the participants about the importance of the day. He also briefed on soil testing and other government programmes and schemes available for the farmers and farming community.
Mr. A.K Dash, Senior Scientist & Head (I/C), KVK discussed on health management of soil and different scientific approaches for reviving the soil condition to keep it live for future generation. He briefed on the green manuring, organic farming practices for sustainable crop production.
Mr. S.R. Hati, Assistant Field Manager, IFFCO, Bhubaneswar emphasized on use of Bio-fertilizers for integrated nutrient management in crop production and demonstrated Nano Urea and DAP to the participating farmers and farm women.
Mr. S. Singh, Scientist, KVK-Khordha thrust upon acid soil management for enhancing the production and productivity in field crops.
Dr. P. R Sahoo, Scientist, KVK-Khordha, informed the farmers and farm women regarding the importance of soil and water testing in fish culture for enhancing fish production.
Mr. GaneswarSahoo, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Tangi block proposed the vote of thanks.
On this occasion 35 numbers of soil health card and 15 litres of liquid rhizobium culture were also distributed to the farmers and farm women for seed inoculation in Green gram.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. S. Singh of KVK-Khordha, ICAR-CIFA.
