Cuttack,21/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- On 20.09.2022, Sri Santosh Kumar Swain, Sub-Inspector of Police, I/c Bhejiput Police Out-post, PS-Khalikote, Dist-Ganjam was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from a complainant to help him in a case registered against him in Khalikote Police Station.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 20.09.2022 wherein the accused Sri Santosh Kumar Swain, SI of Police was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in Bhejiput Police Out-post while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Swain and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Swain gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched on the residential quarter of Sri Swain at Jamapalli, Bhanjanagar, Dist-Ganjam and office room at Bhejiput Police Out-post. Accused Sri Santosh Kumar Swain, SI of Police has been arrested and he is being forwarded to the Court today.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.18 dated 20.09.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
