Cuttack,20/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 20.09.2022, Sri Haribandhu Parida, Ex-Sub-Inspector of Police (In-charge IIC), Chakapada Police Station, Dist-Kandhamal (Retired) who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.34 dtd.15.08.2018 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from the complainant for not implicating him as an accused in a case registered in Chakapada Police Station was convicted by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Parida following his conviction.
Sri Rabikant Suna, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Barhampur Division, A/p-DSP, Vigilance, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Sri V.V. Ramdas, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Phulbani conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
